Description
This is a platform
adventure game where the player controls an elf whose main weapon
is a bugle that shoots out musical notes
that hurt the enemies. There are animals that help him along the
way, such as a monkey who can jump high and grab items
hanging above horizontal vines that the player can't normally
get, a seal that jumps high in the water and maneuvers very
easily
through it, and a lion that jumps far and has great attacking
power. These animals are summoned by the 3 types of medallions
(with their pictures on them), and the player finds these all
over along the way. There are also gems that the player can
collect
and food items that give the player varying amounts of points.
There are bosses at the end of each level, who, like the player,
have energy meters. Treasure chests that contain huge amounts of
bonus items, are scattered throughout areas and are
sometimes hidden. Some of them have a mini nuclear bomb that
leave a mushroom cloud & can kill the player if he doesn't
get
out of the way. There are mystery treasure bags that also give
the player bonus items and sometimes they release 3 yellow
stars that turn into symbols. If the 3 symbols are the same, then
the player gets a huge bonus like with a jackpot machine.
There is a fairy that shows up when matching certain symbols. A
large diamond that pops out of the treasure chests & bags
makes the player invincible for a while. The player also can find
hidden items like small mushrooms that start popping out of
the big springboard mushrooms when they're shot with the bugle.
Many fruits can be revealed by walking where there are
moving shrubs. The levels range from a forest with waterfall
backdrops, forest treetops, a swamp, a cave, the mountains, the
skies above the mountains, an ice cave, tropical islands, the
underwater where sunken ships lie, and a castle. This game uses
a lot of the F3 System's alpha blending capabilities. It's hard
to believe that Taito never released this game, as the gameplay
is
excellent and very similar to Blue's Journey. The main thing they could have improved is the
player's character & his weapon.
